Projects / What is bot
One set of tools, two ways in.
What is bot is an AI-focused Discord bot that also runs a Model Context Protocol server in the same process. Whether a request arrives as a slash command or from an AI client, it reaches the same tools.
Where it comes from
A fork that learned to speak MCP.
What is bot is an AI-focused derivative of This is bot. It keeps the original's slash commands, utilities, and AI chat, and continues to grow them.
The fork adds a remote MCP server alongside the bot. Tools built for Discord no longer stay in Discord: any compatible AI client can call them with its own scoped credentials.
Capabilities / 04
Built once, reachable everywhere.
- 01
Conversation
Ask questions in Discord and choose between Gemini, Claude, and other models, with optional history, attachments, and adjustable thinking depth.
- 02
Shared tools
Search, maps, weather, exchange rates, research databases, Japanese law lookup, and everyday utilities are available through function calling.
- 03
MCP server
The same tools are served over the Model Context Protocol, so Claude.ai, ChatGPT, Gemini CLI, and other MCP clients can connect directly.
- 04
Scoped access
OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, per-client tokens, permission levels, and usage quotas keep each capability limited to the people and clients meant to use it.
